THE MIDNIGHT CAMPAIGN
The Midnight Campaign is a Midnight Mechanics initiative whose mission is to start FIRST programs at local schools in the San Diego, Chula Vista, and Poway school districts. Through a series of organized marketing efforts, the Midnight Campaign uses public platforms, such as YouTube, and pop culture to innovatively spread the message of FIRST and to get students excited about math, science, and technology.

EightTwelve FASHION LINE
One of the platforms by which we choose to spread FIRST is: FASHION.
EightTwelve is an exclusive fashion line presented by the Midnight Mechanics as a part of our Midnight Campaign. EightTwelve serves to fully immerse the values of FIRST as a part of the pop culture of our generation through making it “in” to be excited about math, science, and technology.
With our quirky shirts and printed mantras, the Midnight Mechanics views EightTwelve as an outlet to merge our creative energy with our passion for FIRST.
Through EightTwelve, our students take on the role of fashion designers, developing cohesive collections that showcase how fun being a FIRST-er can be; marketers, creating strong advertisement campaigns to promote their fashion line; entrepreneurs, understanding the mechanisms of “cost and revenue” in order to make profit; and mini-philanthropists, ensuring that all revenue from the line goes towards the production of other Midnight Campaign efforts and towards helping local schools start FIRST teams.
With that, the ultimate goal of EightTwelve is to generate a steady revenue line in order to help support local schools start and maintain sustainable FIRST teams and to help Team San Diego continue to organize large-scale community events which exposes the San Diego community to FIRST.
EightTwelve not only intends on raising competitive entrepreneurs who will become leaders in our community, but to also redefine the image of FIRST. We hope to prove that FASHION IS RELATED to SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY (get it?).
"The Midnight Campaign was my opportunity to unleash my creative energy. It gave me an outlet where I could merge my passion for pop art and pop culture with the mission of FIRST, instilling an excitement in learning and discovery among the youth in my community."
PAUL TRAN, Midnight Mechanic
Paul Tran was one of the founders of EightTwelve, the exclusive fashion line presented by the Midnight Mechanics. EightTwelve is a community initiative whose mission is to spread the message of FIRST through integrating its values with pop culture. As Paul puts it, "EightTwelve is the innovative child of Dean Kamen and Tyra Banks." Although he is only a junior at Preuss, Paul has been a Midnight Mechanic for almost five years - with his first year on the team (as a seventh grader) spent shadowing the high school students and picking gum off from underneath the tables. With one more year to go, Paul aspires to attend Pomona College where he intends on majoring in Biochemistry and pursue an MD/PhD.
