My name is MinhTrang Vy and I am the head of Communications and Marketing for the Midnight Mechanics. My job includes getting in touch with the media, publicizing the team’s events, as well as exposing our team’s true colors. I also work on our team website, our video log series, our t-shirts, trinkets, and pretty much everything with our name on it. This is my second year on the team and I must honestly say never in my 16 years of life have I been so passionate and obsessed about anything like this. FIRST Robotics is truly an amazing program. I joined Robotics in 9th grade, clueless about power tools, leadership, and people. I had no idea how much impact on the community a robotics team could really do. Being in robotics changed me as a person and made me realize my potential as a student. Even as a 16 year old, I can still do a whole lot for the world. Through robotics, I’ve met very interesting people who are a lot more similar to me than I thought. I’ve gotten the chance to step out of my shell and speak up. By the end of my first (haha, get it?) year being involved in FIRST, I have learned so much about team work, spirit, entrepreneurship, sportsmanship, and (we can’t forget) tool use. I came back from regional so used to the loudness of the arena that I was practically yelling at everyone when I responded to them. It’s been one really exciting season and there’s still a lot to look forward to.
