Tick tock… tick tock. As the minutes, hours, and days pass by in the six-week building season, The Midnight Mechanics want to make sure that no team is behind with what is going on within the FIRST community. To help teams from all around the nation during this vital and chaotic time of year, Team 812 developed a system for teams to access quick and easy information on what is going on within FIRST Robotics. A series of weekly blogs, The Midnight Show follow Team 812 through the problem solving adventures that make up the building season. Each blog is devoted to update the world on the new messages FIRST Robotics send out about the game and what is going on within Team San Diego and Team 812.
As the building season progress, the responsibilities of the project groups within our team (such as mechanical, electrical, outreach, etc.) continue to accumulate. Because of this, members of our team use the Midnight Show to understand the game better and to become aware with the activities happening in team San Diego. Not everyone is able to attend the monthly Team San Diego; the Midnight Shows doubles as an effort to build stronger relationships with the Team San Diego community. The video blogs not only inform students about the events team San Diego take a part in, but also gives other teams the opportunity to see and even join on the activities Team 812 plans as a team. This show serves as a candid method in which students can be informed on how they can join the volunteer opportunities of team 812 and also notify students about different scholarships opportunities.
We hope to compile all six videos and use them as an outreach method to help encourage other high schools to establish FRC teams. Establishing a FRC team will give students the opportunity to view firsthand the excitement that is involved during the FRC season. Most importantly students will see how FIRST relationship are built and the gratifying rewards that hard work can bring. All of the Midnight Shows can be view by searching “Preuss Robotics” on www.YouTube.com.
Other resources for updates from the Midnight Mechanics can be found on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr.

CHITCHAT
Spotted: Team 812 strutting around the shores of San Diego. Their teal-printed tee's are sure hard to miss. We hear rumors going 'round of the beginnings of a new FIRST season. Sounds like it is going to be one "slippery slope," if you know what I mean. Six weeks. One robot. Almost zero friction.
Clock's ticking. Is it almost midnight yet?
